Police: Fireworks to Blame For Explosion Reports in D.C.

WASHINGTON — D.C. police are blaming a backpack of fireworks for reports of an explosion.

Police say callers reported an explosion in an alley near 3rd and L streets northeast on Sunday evening. When officers arrived they found that someone had set off a backpack full of M-80s, which are illegal in the District.

No one was hurt in the incident and police say one man was arrested.
