Man Arrested in Va. Hit-and-Run That Killed 2

LOUISA, Va. — Police have arrested a suspect in a hit-and-run wreck that killed two motorcycle riders in Louisa County.

Virginia State Police say the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30-year-old Kenneth G. Wadford of Cumberland around 9:30 a.m. Monday.

State police Sgt. Thomas J. Molnar says in a news release that Wadford’s arrest followed a tip. Other details weren’t immediately available.

Wadford is accused of driving a van that hit the motorcycle Saturday night. The motorcycle’s operator, 50-year-old Oneal F. Newman, and a passenger, 53-year-old Joyce A. Herriott, were thrown from the motorcycle.

Molnar says the van hit the victims and fled the scene. The van then broke down and the driver fled on foot.

The wreck occurred Saturday night at the intersection of Zachary Taylor Highway and Days Bridge Road.
