Escaped Inmate Captured in D.C.

WEYERS CAVE, Va. (CBSDC/AP) — A Virginia inmate who escaped while on work release is back in custody.
The Virginia Department of Corrections says the U.S. Marshals Service captured 44-year-old Karan Batra in Washington, D.C. around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday. The department and Virginia State Police didn’t provide details.
Batra was captured about nine hours after he left a work release crew Wednesday morning. The crew was landscaping the grounds at Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport in Weyers Cave.
Batra was assigned to Cold Springs Work Center.
