Man Falls Into Metro Station, Is Hospitalized

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A highly intoxicated man fell over the street-level wall of the Dupont Circle Metro station, landed on the escalator, and slid down to the bottom where he was discovered around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday by WMATA staff.

The man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Metro officials.

The Metropolitan Police Department told Channel 9 that the man suffered broken ribs, a laceration to the back of his head and a compound fracture to his leg as a result of the 150-foot fall.

There was no impact to Metro service Tuesday morning, as the station was closed at the time.
