LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A Loudoun County man’s weekly paycheck is going to get a hefty bonus courtesy of the Virginia Lottery.

Joel Lyles, of Hamilton, won the June 1 drawing of the Win for Life game, taking home the top prize of $1,000 per week for the rest of his life.

Lyles matched all six of the winning numbers, 5-12-18-30-33-34, using a combination of birthdays and numbers significant to him, he said.

He told Virginia Lottery officials he went online the day after the drawing to check the winning numbers and realized he won the jackpot, which carries winning odds of 1 in 5,245,786.

Lyles bought the winning ticket at Hamilton Convenience, 38990 East Colonial Highway in Hamilton. He returned to the store Tuesday to receive his prize from Virginia Lottery officials. The store also received a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Lyles is the state’s 43rd lifetime winner since the Win for Life game began in February 2006. Win for Life drawings take place Wednesday and Saturday nights at 11 p.m. Other prizes in the game range from $2 to $52,000.
