DENVER (CBSDC/AP) — The Washington Nationals have traded right-handed pitcher Henry Rodriguez to the Chicago Cubs for minor league pitcher Ian Dickson.

Rodriguez was 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA in 17 games for the Nationals before being designated for assignment June 4. He was 1-3 with a 5.83 ERA and nine saves in 35 games for Washington in 2012. He finished with a 4.23 ERA in two seasons for the Nationals.

Dickson, a 35th-round pick of the Cubs in 2011, is 2-2 with a 6.88 ERA in 11 games — three starts — for Class A Kane County this season. In two years of Class A ball, he is 5-5 with a 6.06 ERA in 26 appearances, including 18 starts.

The Cubs designated RHP Eduardo Sanchez for assignment to make room for Rodriguez on the roster.

The trade was announced following Washington’s loss to the Colorado Rockies Tuesday night.
