(Expensive) Summer in the City

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — The Smithsonian museums and White House tours may be free, but the District is one of the most expensive U.S. cities to visit in the summertime, according to TripAdvisor.
The travel site based its list on the summer prices of a one night stay for two in a four-star hotel, cocktails, dinner, and round-trip taxi transportation.
In 2012, the total bill for a couple visiting D.C. overnight was about $413.66. This year, its more along the lines of $446.13. The breakdown is $324.41 for a room, $17.72 for cab fare, $74 for food and $30 for drinks.
D.C. came in behind Honolulu, New York City, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago and Los Angeles on the top 10 most expensive list. Seattle, Orlando and San Diego were in the 8th, 9th and 10th spots.
TripAdvisor says the least expensive U.S. cities to visit in the summer are:
