WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - Trent Williams has shown tremendous signs of maturity since being suspended four games in 2011 for repeated failed drug tests, so much so that it was surprising when reports broke of him being involved in a bar skirmish during his first trip to the Pro Bowl following the 2012-13 season.
Williams addressed the brush-up which forced him to get stitches and ultimately miss the Pro Bowl, in an interview with 106.7 The Fan’s Holden and Danny Tuesday.
“I don’t know if it was a learning experience,” Williams said. “It was definitely just an innocent bystander, so I don’t know if there’s too much to learn about it. I had separated myself from the situation and it’s just an unfortunate turn of events. Unfortunately, I was caught up in something I had no part in.”
Speaking of learning experiences, Trent also addressed the evolution of his maturity level since being taken fourth overall by the Redskins in 2010.
“I just think it’s a credit to me for learning from my mistakes,” Williams said.
“I was young when I came in. I got thrown into the fire. It took a little minute to get accommodated to the NFL lifestyle, and I think I’m just maturing and kind of know what to expect now. So the game is a little easier for me than it was a couple years ago.”
