BOWIE, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — A 63-year-old man who was lost in the woods off Crain Highway for more than 24 hours after getting stuck in Monday afternoon’s storms has been found alive.
He is suffering from exposure and dehydration, but is expected to be OK.
Paramedics had been searching the area and finally found the man the woods behind the Bowie Baysox stadium and Patuxent River Park, according to fire officials. They say he was hiking, got stuck in the storm, fell into a ravine and took shelter under a downed tree.
Authorities previously reported that he was trapped under the tree overnight, but they later learned that wasn’t the case.
The man, who is yet to be identified, was flown from the scene by a park police helicopter.
