Carjacking in Georgetown Ends in Police Chase, Crash in Md.

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — An early morning armed carjacking in Georgetown resulted in a police chase through two jurisdictions that ended with a crash on the Clara Barton Parkway, authorities say.

A woman reported three suspects approached at gunpoint and stole her Mercedes SUV from an Exxon station in the 3600 block of M Street around 1 a.m., according to D.C. police.

A pursuit began a short time later when officers spotted the 2006 Mercedes ML350.

Montgomery County Police say they were called to the 6000 block of Clara Barton Parkway, near the D.C.-Maryland border, around 1:45 a.m. to assist with the chase.

The three suspects fled on foot after crashing near the Capital Crescent Trail, police say.

One suspect, a juvenile, was taken into custody by Montgomery County officers in a nearby neighborhood shortly before 3 a.m. The juvenile has been arrested and charges are currently pending.

The other two suspects remain at large, police say.

The victim of the carjacking was not injured.
