Tom Donilon to Resign as National Security Adviser; Susan Rice to Take Over
LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Tom Donilon is set to resign as President Barack Obama’s national security adviser, a source tells the Associated Press.
Susan Rice is expected to take over the position.
Donilon has been in the position since Oct. 2010 when he replaced James Jones.
Rice, whose hopes of becoming Secretary of State were derailed by her comments on the Benghazi matter, will be replaced by Samantha Power as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, ABC News’ Jonathan Karl reports.
An official announcement will be made in the White House Rose Garden at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
