LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A teen who was shot several times in a Northeast apartment building Monday night has died, police said.

The teen, identified as 16-year-old Malik Spears of Southeast, was found at about 11:20 p.m. Monday suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the hallway of a building in the 1200 block of Brentwood Road NE, according to D.C. police.

He was transported to the hospital in critical condition but police said he died from his injuries at about 1:25 p.m. Tuesday.

Police are investigating Spears’ death as a homicide but don’t yet have any suspects in the case. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call D.C. police.
