WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — Four D.C. firefighters have been accused of sexual misconduct involving a female firefighter, authorities said.
The female firefighter was sleeping inside the M Street NW fire station shortly after midnight Friday when she was awakened by someone touching her thigh, city fire officials said Monday.
The incident is being investigated by D.C. police.
The four firefighters accused of sexual assault have been placed on paid administrative duties by D.C. fire, meaning they won’t have any public contact and won’t report to their normal duty station.
Both police and fire officials said there won’t be any further comment until the investigation is complete.
The firefighters’ union is urging police and the department to conduct a thorough and fair investigation.
