VIENNA, Va. — Police say a 65-year-old bicyclist was struck by a drunken driver on a walking and biking trail in Vienna.

The collision on the W & OD trail occurred around 8:30 Saturday morning. Fairfax County police say a car driven by 28-year-old Mehak Chopra came up behind the bicyclist and hit him. The man was thrown from the bike.

The driver continued into the town of Vienna, where a police officer pulled her over.

Chopra, who lives in McLean, has been charged with driving while intoxicated and felony hit and run.

Police believe she started driving on the trail in the Reston area and traveled about 5 miles at high speeds. Police got several calls from people who reported having to jump out of the way of the vehicle.
