Woman Dies in Motor Scooter Accident
LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A Maryland woman is dead after the motor scooter she was riding on Thursday morning collided with a truck in Howard County, police said.
The woman was riding on a TaoTao motorized scooter just after 6 a.m. when she was struck by a box truck on Business Parkway in Elkridge, Howard County police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the woman, identified by police as Brandy Copeland, 26, of Elkridge, failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and Business Parkway when the truck hit her.
The truck driver, identified by police as Travis Ashbury, 27, of Silver Spring, was not injured. Police said they don’t believe Ashbury will be charged in the accident.
