D.C. Councilmember Jack Evans Running for Mayor

WASHINGTON — D.C. Councilmember Jack Evans is joining the race for mayor, becoming the third candidate to enter the race.

Evans, a Democrat who represents Ward 2, wrote Thursday on Twitter that he would announce his candidacy on June 8 at the restaurant Le Diplomate on 14th and Q streets in his district.

Current Mayor Vincent Gray hasn’t said whether he’s seeking re-election in 2014, but Councilmembers Muriel Bowser and Tommy Wells have already said they’re running. All three are also Democrats.
