WASHINGTON — National Theatre has announced an extensive slate of productions, including its first subscription season in more than a decade.

The new season for 2013 and 2014 announced Wednesday includes the new musical “If/Then” from the creators of “Next to Normal.” In a statement, Producer David Stone says the National has proven to be a good place to develop new works.

The four-show subscription series also includes Broadway tours of “West Side Story,” “The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess” and “American Idiot” from music group Green Day. Subscriptions go on sale Thursday, starting at $195.

Additional shows include “Stomp,” “Mama Mia!” “Blue Man Group” and “Hal Holbrook in Mark Twain Tonight!”

This is the first season for the struggling National under a new joint venture between Chicago’s JAM Theatricals and Philadelphia-based SMG.
