2-Alarm Fire Rips Through Townhouse Row in Elkridge

ELKRIDGE, Md. (CBSDC) — Four townhouses suffered significant damage in a two-alarm fire that burned overnight in Elkridge, Md.

Firefighters were called to the blaze in 6900 block of Ducketts Lane around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Neighbors say the fire began with a charcoal grill on the back deck of one of the homes. It spread quickly, completely engulfing the back of one of the homes and reaching to neighboring properties.

It took more than two hours to extinguish the fire which authorities say had flames shooting as much as 50 feet above the roofs of the homes at one point.

At least one of the dwellings is completely destroyed.

Seven homes are in the row where the fire occurred.
