Driver Flees Scene After Vehicle Crashes With School Bus

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that collided with a school bus and caught fire in Southeast D.C. on Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred just before 1:30 p.m. on Interstate 295 near Benning Road when a vehicle crashed into a school bus carrying 35 children and caught fire, according to police. One child was transported to the hospital with injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, described as a black male, fled the scene on foot and was last seen running toward a nearby wooded area, police said.
