STERLING, Va. (CBSDC) – A police officer for the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority was fatally shot by his wife Friday night, authorities say.

Officers from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office arrived at a home in the 217000 block of Blossom Drive at about 9 p.m. for reports of a shooting and found 52-year-old Steven Spradling had been killed, according to reports.

Rosangela Spradling, 42, has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond, WUSA 9 says.

Deputies said two children were in the home at the time of the shooting and were unharmed.
