LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Lots of Howard County students like to read, but not all of them are working with the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship to market that passion in front of billionaires.
Krissa Hillman, an 11-year-old 5th grader at Bollman Bridge Elementary in Jessup, is a finalist in Warren Buffett’s Secret Millionaires Club Grow Your Own Business Challenge. The national competition encourages student to come up with fresh business concepts. About 4,000 contestants between the ages of 7 to 16 entered this year.
Krissa’s standout idea was Cupcakes for Literacy, a business created to sell baked goods benefit reading programs, libraries and local schools. It has already enjoyed some success.
