LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Three suspects in a string of more than 50 burglaries in Prince George’s County since December have been arrested.
Police say 40-year-old Anthony Nyrekie Edwards, 24-year-old David Benjamin Neal and 21-year-old Jamal Cooke, all of Oxen Hill, took weapons, computers, jewelry, televisions and other personal belongings from the homes they struck. In one case, they stole a safe with valuables worth nearly $70,000.
Investigators believe the men would knock on doors and, if no one answered, break in and get out within minutes. They would then unloading what they stole in exchange for cash or drugs. All three are charged with burglary.
A break in the case came when a concerned civilian flagged down a patrol officer and tipped him off to a suspicious sight he witnessed, a man selling televisions out of the back of a vehicle.
While Prince George’s County police say the men were targeting homes in Oxon Hill and Fort Washington, they are also facing similar charges in Charles County and Fairfax County.
Edwards and Neil are in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no bond status. Cooke was released from custody on a $25,000 bond.
