LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A man who was Tasered by police after removing his clothes and climbing on top of a parked fire truck at the Calverton Shopping Center Wednesday is also a suspect in a nearby shooting.
Prince George’s County Police were called to the 11900 block of Beltsville Drive for a report of a car accident around 6 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man in the back seat suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. That man remains in
Shock Trauma in critical condition.
The suspect, 24-year-old Mohamed Sulaiman Bah, is a friend of the victim, according to police. There is no established motive for the shooting.
Witnesses said the vehicle they were in was moving when the gun was fired, but hit a parked car shortly afterwards.
Investigators say Bah removed his clothing and fled from the scene following the shooting. He ended up in a shopping center less than a mile away, where he climbed on top of a parked fire truck. He refused to comply with orders by police to come down from the truck and remained there for several minutes, acting belligerently. Once he came down, a Prince George’s County officer used a Taser to subdue him.
Bah was taken into custody without any further incident. Patrol officers recovered the gun used in the shooting nearby and Bah has been charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault and other related charges.
Police say he was high on PCP when the incidents occurred.
