POINT OF ROCKS, Md. — Maryland State Police are identifying a man found dead at Point of Rocks State Park.

Police say 54-year-old Peter V. O’Connell of Frederick was found dead along the banks of the Potomac River on Sunday afternoon. A bicyclist called 911 after spotting his body in the water.

O’Connell’s car was found in a parking lot about a half-mile away and police say investigators found a suicide note at his Frederick home. His body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.
