ARLINGTON, Va. (CBSDC/AP) — An elderly woman went missing after arriving at Reagan Washington National Airport on Friday afternoon, and police are asking the public to be on the lookout.
Victoria Kong, 83, was last seen walking north on the Mount Vernon trail toward Gravelly Point at about 6:30 p.m. Friday. Police on Monday afternoon had blocked off a section of Gravelly Point near where Kong was last seen and they were conducting a death investigation for a female body that was found in the area. Police could not confirm if the death investigation was related to Kong’s whereabouts.
Kong’s family said they were waiting for her to be escorted off the flight by wheelchair, but she never showed up. Kong’s granddaughter Alexandria Anderson said Kong is showing some early signs of dementia and they’re very concerned for her.
Police said the fair-skinned Hispanic woman is about 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. She has brown eyes and short black hair and was last seen in a long purple or brown dress with a flower print and sandals. She was carrying a tan sweater or jacket and a black purse.
Kong’s date of birth is Feb. 7, 1930. Anyone with information of her whereabouts is asked to contact the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority at 703-417-2400 or Detective Wolfson at 202-615-9898. The reference case number is 201300952.
