SUITLAND, Md. (CBSDC) — Three people are in custody after an attempted armed robbery ended in a shootout Tuesday in Prince George’s County, police said.
Two masked men with a hand gun attempted to rob the First Cash Pawn Shop, across the street from the U.S. Census Bureau, in the 4600 block of Silver Hill Road in Suitland at about 1:15 p.m., county police said.
A security guard working at the store exchanged gunshots with the suspects before they fled the scene in a car driven by a third suspect, a police spokesperson said.
Police said the suspects then drove to a nearby hospital and dropped off an injured suspect. Police later tracked down the getaway car, a burgundy Honda Accord with tinted windows and D.C. plates, and arrested two men in connection with the armed robbery. The injured suspect also was taken into custody at the hospital.
The security guard was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Police recovered a handgun from the scene.
