WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - Although it’s not entirely clear why at the moment, an anti-wave/pro-wave skirmish seems to have broken out between Nationals players and is being waged on internet soil, for the entire world to watch in shock and awe.

Actually, it’s wildly entertaining and just the type of interaction fans hope will break their struggling ball club out of its slump.

No one can be certain how it actually started, but the ‘shot heard round the world’ seems to be a tweet from Bryce Harper that came out of nowhere Tuesday, which he directed at fans attempting to #killthewave.

Minutes later, Ian Desmond was involved.

Then inexplicably, Dan Steinberg was caught in the crossfire.

And then for a moment, it even seemed the anti-wave movement‘s star supporter had turned Benedict Arnold.

But then he was back, supporting the anti-wave movement, and firing shots at the root of all evil in this scenario, Bryce Harper.

Again, no one really knows exactly what caused Bryce to fire the first shot, but it probably had something to do with a fan being tossed from Nats Park Saturday, after beers were thrown in a dispute over the wave.

For those keeping track of who’s on which side:

Pro-wave: Bryce Harper, Ian Desmond, Jayson Werth (if you’re to believe Bryce)

Anti-wave: Ryan Mattheus

Please let us know if we missed anyone…
