WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — More than 15,000 runners descended on downtown D.C. on Sunday morning for the Nike Women’s Half Marathon.

The annual 13.1-mile race closed several roads in the Federal Triangle area. Pennsylvania Avenue NW is closed in both directions between 9th and 14th streets. Constitution and Independence avenues and the 9th Street tunnel have been re-opened now that the race is completed.

People headed into the District are strongly urged to use Metro to avoid long delays.

The race raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
