Political Ad Season Already Starting with Va. Gov. Race

RICHMOND, Va. — The first of what’s guaranteed to be many television ads aired into November by candidates in Virginia’s close and bitter governor’s race is set for a Monday debut.
Republican Ken Cuccinelli’s 30-second ad targets women voters, a group where polls show the ardently conservative attorney general has the most work to do.
It features his wife, Tiero, looking directly into the camera and lauding her husband’s advocacy for sexual assault victims and working the night shift at homeless shelters. There is no mention of abortion.
Cuccinelli’s chief political adviser, Chris LaCivita, said the ad will air in every Virginia market, urban and rural, including the pricey Washington, D.C., television market. He refused to provide details of the buy or the duration of its run.
