Gaithersburg Man Charged With Sexual Abuse of Home Daycare Children

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A 66-year-old Montgomery Village man has been arrested and charged in relation to the alleged sexual abuse of two young girls who attended his wife’s home day care.

The 3-year-old and 7-year-old girls told their mother about the sexual abuse, which police say occurred at the Playing and Learning Family Child Care located in the basement of a residence in the 18000 block of Royal Bonnett Circle, and she called authorities.

David Fernando Javier Zaraysi is being held on a $500,000 bond. His formal charges include two counts of sexual abuse of a minor, two counts of committing a second degree sex offense, and two counts of committing a third degree sex offense.

The investigation is continuing into whether other children who attended the day care were also sexually abused. Detectives are asking that anyone who has knowledge of inappropriate contact between Zaraysi and a child contact the Family Crimes Division at 240-773-5400. Any parent who has a child that attended or is attending the Playing and Learning Family Child Care should speak to their child about any inappropriate behavior that may have occurred. Anyone who believes that their child may have been a victim of Zaraysi is also asked to contact the Family Crimes Division.
