ROCKVILLE, Md. (CBSDC) — A standoff between police and an armed man in Rockville has apparently ended peacefully.

Police say the incident began with an early morning argument between a man and a woman at a town home in the 600 block of Azalea Drive.

Around 6 a.m., Authorities say a woman became frightened by the man and fled the home. She then contacted police and reported the man was armed.

Responding officers requested a SWAT team at the location at some point during the morning.

There was no contact between the man and police for more than three hours, police say.

Dozens of SWAT team members and K-9 units entered the community about 30 minutes before the situation ended, WNEW’s Kevin Patrick reports.

Montgomery County Police say the man was taken into custody without incident around 9:25 a.m.

“It’s obvious there’s no threat here anymore,” Patrick says.
