FREDERICK, Md. (CBSDC/AP)— The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating the death of a 61-year-old woman found dead in her home this week as a homicide.
Sgt. Jennifer Bailey said Tuesday that Gloria Fitzpatrick’s body was found Monday afternoon in her apartment on Rooks Court in Frederick. A family member discovered the body after Fitzpatrick didn’t show up for work.
The medical examiner has ruled the manner of death as a homicide due to the discovery during an autopsy of significant trauma that was not visible to detectives at the scene.
Police did not report any signs of forced entry or struggle in the apartment. Investigators believe Fitzpatrick’s death is a victim-specific crime and not a random act. Anyone with information about this crime should contact Det. Joseph McCallion at 301-600-1022.
