WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – During a recent interview, President Barack Obama took a strong stance on the issue of his daughters getting tattoos.

“What we’ve said to the girls is, ‘If you guys ever decided you’re going to get a tattoo, then [we] will get the exact same tattoo in the same place,” told NBC’s “Today Show.”

He added that he and his wife, Michelle, would not stop there, stating that they would also “go on YouTube and show it off as a family tattoo.”

Obama said the promise was not meant to encourage 14-year-old Malia or 11-year-old Sasha to get tattoos – quite the opposite, in fact.

He noted, “[O]ur thinking is that might dissuade them from thinking that somehow that’s a good way to rebel.”

The interview itself was said to have taken place before the bombing of the Boston Marathon.
