BOSTON (AP) — U.S. Rep. William Keating, a member of the congressional Homeland Security Committee, says the twin bombs that killed at least three people and injured more than 140 at the Boston Marathon appears to be a coordinated attack.
Keating, who said he spoke to the chairman of the committee on Monday, said the bombs have all the hallmarks of a domestic or international terrorist incident.
Keating, who hasn’t been formally briefed on the explosions, said the marathon is an international event that draws runners from around the world. He also noted that Monday was Tax Day, which could provide motivation for domestic terrorists.
He said two other unexploded devises were found, but he didn’t have any information about them.
Keating said he’s confident federal, state and local law enforcement officials will bring those responsible to justice.
