Fairfax County Officer Shoots, Critically Injures Man

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A man was critically injured when he was shot by a Fairfax County police officer in Alexandria on Tuesday.

Police said they were called just before 4 p.m. Tuesday to a home in the 6600 block of Thurlton Drive for the report of a possible suicidal person. When officers arrived, they found a 37-year-old man. It is unclear what happened next, but police said the man was shot by an officer.

An officer performed CPR until rescue personnel arrived. The man is in critical condition at a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The officers involved in will be placed on routine administrative leave as the police begin their investigations.
