Young Woman Killed in Germantown Crash

GERMANTOWN, Md. (CBSDC) – Clopper Road has reopened in both directions following a fatal early morning two-vehicle crash in Germantown on Saturday.
Montgomery County Police say the initial collision occurred in the intersection of Mateny and Clopper Roads around 2:31 a.m.
A car was traveling north on Mateny Road when the female driver – 20-year-old Nicole Bell, of Germantown – drove into the intersection and crashed into a taxicab traveling east on Clopper Road.
Police say her vehicle spun 180 degrees then began traveling south on Mateny Rd, before running off the right side of the road and striking a tree.
Bell was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the cab, 31-year-old Mabeen Basharat, of Germantown, reported an injury but was not taken to a hospital.
An accident reconstruction unit continues to investigate the crash.
