WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – The Washington Redskins have taken great risks allowing their Free Agents to test the waters before ultimately returning at a bargain rate, but there’s been more of a homecoming of players than what meets the eye.

For DeAngelo Hall and Darryl Tapp, playing together in Washington is a reunion years in the making.  The duo attended the same elementary school in Chesapeake where they were both avid Redskins fans.

Tapp made the revelation to 106.7 The Fan’s Holden and Danny Thursday:

“We’re brothers from Deep Creek,” Tapp said. “We go back further than college.”

“Oh yea, how far back?” Holden asked.

“Elementary school,” Tapp answered.

“Seriously?” Holden asked.

“Yea, we grew up together,” Tapp responded.

Tapp, who comes to Washington by way of Philadelphia on a one-year deal, first met DHall on the rec league basketball courts.

“DeAngelo’s an incredible athlete,” Tapp said, as he admitted Hall to be better on the hardwood.

While they never dated the same girl growing up in the same town because “there’s too many to date the same one,” Tapp did follow Hall’s blueprint to a career in the NFL … like every step of the way.

“When DeAngelo got all the attention for college, it kind of opened the door for myself and a couple of players after me,” Tapp said. “And I followed DeAngelo to Virginia Tech, and now we’re on the same team with ten years for him coming up and eight years for me coming up”

“It’s been a great journey.”
