LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — The National Football League has released its preseason schedule for the 2013 season and the Redskins, who likely will be without quarterback Robert Griffin III for the preseason, will play one nationally televised game against a marquee NFL franchise.
Washington’s four-game slate features games against the Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers throughout the month of August.
- Week 1 (Aug. 8-11): Washington Redskins at Tennessee Titans
- Week 2 (Aug. 19): Washington Redskins vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
- Week 3 (Aug. 23-25): Washington Redskins vs. Buffalo Bills
- Week 4 (Aug. 29-31): Washington Redskins at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The game against the Steelers will be nationally televised on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.
The Redskins will close out the preseason against the Buccaneers for the third straight year.
Griffin isn’t expected to play in any preseason games as he rehabs from major knee surgery that was required after he injured his knee in the team’s playoff loss to the Seahawks in January. Griffin is hoping to be ready to take the field in Week 1 of the regular season.
The Redskins re-signed quarterback Rex Grossman and reached an agreement with free agent quarterback Pat White on Wednesday, which will add depth at the position while Griffin works his way back into playing shape. Backup quarterback Kirk Cousins is expected to take the first team snaps in training camp until Griffin returns.
