LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — With Rex Grossman still unsigned, the Washington Redskins have turned to former Miami Dolphins quarterback Pat White for added depth at quarterback.

White reached an agreement with the Redskins late Tuesday and is expected to officially sign sometime Wednesday according to a USA Today report.

White, who was offered a minor league contract by the Miami Marlins in January, auditioned for NFL teams at West Virginia’s pro day last month. The 27-year-old former Mountaineer was a second-round pick of the Dolphins in 2009 and has not played in a regular season game since his rookie year.

In 2011, White was briefly under contract with the Virginia Destroyers of the now defunct United Football League.

White reportedly cancelled a planned visit with New York Giants after opting to sign with the Redskins.

He worked out for the San Francisco 49ers last month.

It remains a possibility Grossman will also re-sign with Washington.
