Funeral Services to be Held for Md. Marine Killed in Nevada

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — The family of a Maryland Marine will remember the life of their fallen soldier who was one of seven people killed last week when a mortar shell exploded during a training exercise in Nevada.

Funeral services for 21-year-old Lance Cpl. William Taylor Wild IV will be held Friday at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Annapolis at 2 p.m. A viewing took place Thursday at Barranco & Sons Funeral Home in Severna Park.

Wild will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday.

He grew up in the Whitehurst community in Severna Park.

Wild went to Severna Park High School, where he pitched for a state baseball championship in 2009.

He enlisted after graduation and served in Afghanistan in 2011.
