LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A bank located just steps from the FBI headquarters was robbed Friday morning, police say.

The robbery took place at the Capital One Bank branch at 701 Pennsylvania Ave. NW in downtown D.C., located just a two blocks away from the J. Edgar Hoover Building, according to D.C. police.

The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and police believe he headed toward the Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter Metro station.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing dark clothing and carrying a bag.

FBI investigators are at the scene interviewing bank employees while authorities search for the suspect.
