WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – Wounded Warriors won’t need to take off their shoes, jackets or hats when going through airport security.

The Transportation Security Administration announced that severely injured members of the U.S. Armed Forces will be offered expedited screening. As part of the process, Wounded Warriors won’t need to remove clothing items such as shoes, jackets or hats when going through the security process.

“In recognition of the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform, we have revised our screening requirements to allow expedited screening for this trusted group of citizens,” John Halinski, TSA’s Deputy Administrator, said in a release.

The move comes during a time when TSA has brought on more than 10,000 veterans to make up almost a quarter of its workforce.
