Man Struck, Killed in Hit and Run on Beltway

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early Wednesday morning on the Outer Loop of the Capital Beltway in Lanham.
A Prince George’s County police officer discovered a man’s body laying in the roadway just north of Route 202 around 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, WNEW’s John Domen reports. Police later identified the man as Douglas Diggs, 53, of Capitol Heights.
Police said it’s unclear why Diggs was in the road when he was struck. Authorities are also unsure about exactly what time the collision occurred.
Authorities say they have not found a car and no witnesses have come forward.
All lanes of the roadway reopened following a nearly three-hour long police investigation that wrapped up shortly after 6 a.m.
