LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Still in search of a replacement for DeAngelo Hall, the Washington Redskins are expressing interest in former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield.
The two sides are scheduled to meet on Wednesday, a league source confirms to 106.7 The Fan.
Two weeks ago Minnesota released Winfield, who turns 36 this summer, following a nine-season run that began in 2004.
Last season the 14-year veteran from Ohio State compiled 101 tackles and three interceptions, including an eye-opening sideline grab off an ill-advised Robert Griffin III throw in Week 6.
To put Winfield’s career longevity into perspective, he entered the NFL in the same draft class as Champ Bailey and one year before the Redskins selected LaVar Arrington. That said, London Fletcher made his NFL debut a year before he did.
News of Winfield’s meeting was first reported by the Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
