STEVENSVILLE, Md. (CBSDC/AP)– A body found on the Kent Island shoreline Saturday has been identified as that of a Queen Anne’s County woman who went missing earlier this month.
Robin L. Pope’s body was found by a fisherman who alerted the police. The medical examiner’s office in Baltimore confirmed the identification during an autopsy Sunday.
The cause and manner of death still aren’t known.
The 51-year-old was last seen on the night of March 1, when she stopped by the home she once shared with her husband to gather some belongings.
Her estranged husband has said he left when she arrived, and that when he returned home, her car was in the driveway but she was missing. The home is very near the spot where Pope’s body was found. The couple’s dog was also found dead near a pier outside a neighboring home.
An investigation into Pope’s death is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact Maryland State Police at the Centreville Barrack at 410-758-1101. Callers may remain confidential.
