LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Police in Prince George’s County are searching for a missing man whose family says hey may have access to firearms and be suicidal.

William Claude Winfrey III, 40, was last seen early Thursday morning at his home in the 13700 block of Virginia Manor Road in Laurel, police said. Family members said Winfrey suffers from diabetes and may harm himself.

Two schools in Laurel — Dwight Eisenhower Middle School and Laurel High School — were placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon as police searched the area, but police could not confirm if Winfrey was the cause for the lockdowns.

Police describe Winfrey as a white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 250 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Police ask anyone with information on Winfrey’s whereabouts to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Regional Investigative Section-North District VI at 301-937-0910.
