Man, Young Girl Shot During Home Invasion in Aspen Hill

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A 55-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl are recovering after they were shot during an early morning home invasion in Aspen Hill, Maryland.

Police say the shooting occurred just before 1 a.m. Thursday in the 13000 block of Freeland Road near Wheaton Woods Elementary School.

Preliminary investigation shows that two armed suspects forced entry into the home through a door. They demanded money from the residents and, during the interaction, shot the teenager and the man. The suspects, described as white males between the ages of 20 and 25, fled.

Authorities say the man was shot in the chest and the girl was struck in the ankle. Both have been taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Detectives believe there is some association between the suspects and residents of the home.
