ARLINGTON, Va. (CBSDC/AP) — Thieves made off with almost two dozen watches valued at more than $600,000 from a Arlington County mall Tuesday morning, police said.
Four masked men entered the Torneau store at Fashion Centre at Pentagon City just after 10:30 a.m. and used a hammer to smash the case containing Rolex watches, according to police.
The suspects took 23 Rolex watches that the store valued at about $609,000.
Tuesday’s morning’s crime took about 30 seconds. The suspects fled in a car waiting at the side of the mall and driven by a fifth person, police said.
It was the second smash-and-grab crime at the mall in two months. On Feb. 4, four masked men walked into the Zales Jewelers at the Fashion Centre, shattered a display case with hammers and made off with $128,000 in rings. The men fled in a car driven by a fifth person. Police have not said if they believe the two crimes are related.
