LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC)– Five teen girls and two boys, all students at Annapolis High School, were charged for their involvement in a fight that broke out in the cafeteria Monday morning.
The school’s resource officer responded to the scuffle shortly after 7 a.m. and discovered that it involved several students while others gathered to watch, forming a loud, disorderly crowd. The officer requested assistance and numerous police officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department and other agencies responded.
After order was restored, an investigation was conducted. Police say two female students, a 15-year-old and 18-year-old Lakyra Reid, got involved in a verbal altercation in response to posts made via social media over the weekend. The argument got physical when the 15-year-old picked up a chair and hit Reid with it.
Reid is charged with affray, disorderly conduct and disturbing school operations, assault, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. The 15-year-old is charged with affray, disorderly conduct and disturbing school operations, assault and reckless endangerment.
Three other teenage girls and two teenage boys were all charged with affray, disorderly conduct and disturbing school operations.
