Small Plane Crashes Near Airport in Virginia

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A small plane crashed near an airport in Stafford County early Sunday morning, sending two people on board to the hospital.

The Federal Aviation Administration said a single-engine Piper plane apparently lost power and went down in a field about three miles from the Stafford Regional Airport at about 7 a.m., W-USA 9 reports.

Virginia State Police said two men were on board the plane, and both were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

The FAA is investigating the crash.
